AMENITIES & SERVICES

What to expect: Favored by Europeans as well as North Americans, the resort supplies a wide range of activities. Pool and beach aerobics, Spanish lessons, ice-cream parties, tropical-dance classes, water-sports clinics, and many recreation facilities entertain guests when they're not sunning around the pool or on the beach. Everyone dresses up for dinner. Amenity highlights: Containing an island and a swim-up bar, the huge, lagoon-style pool and surrounding sundeck furnish swimming and sunning alternatives to the beach, which extends deep into the resort's grounds and includes volleyball and bocce ball courts. Both pool deck and beach offer thatch-roof palapas for shade amid palm trees ruffled by gentle breezes. Insider tip: Second-floor terrace tables at El Charro restaurant offer good lighting for nighthawks to read as they partake of all-night snacks such as burgers and fried chicken and enjoy soft tropical air.
